COVID-19 OUTBREAK – NEWS FROM EPO AND EUIPO

In connection with the COVID-19 outbreak in Europe, the EPO and EUIPO (besides the Italian PTO as already announced) have adopted measures to extend time limits as follows.

 

  1. EPO

All time limits expiring after 15 March 2020 are automatically extended to 17 April 2020 (term to be possibly extended by further notice).

This applies also to international applications under the PCT.

Other means of safeguard for missed time limits in case of mail disruption in areas affected by the outbreak are also provided

  1. EUIPO

All time limits expiring between 9 March 2020 and 30 April 2020 are extended until 1 May 2020.
