Geographical Indications (GI) and Designations of Origin (DO) are principles of public law registered at the European level. The Protection Consortia are responsible for their defense, enhancement and promotion. In non-EU countries, GIs and DOs may be protected where there are bilateral agreements between the European Union and the third countries concerned.
We offer a wide range of services, from the preparation of the documents required by the European Commission for the registration, to the management of any objections, to the enforcement of existing GIs and DOs against misleading or evocative or unauthorized uses (e.g. in processed products) by third parties.
